Animal Balance
fostering co-existence on
Galapagos

the challenge

The Galapagos Islands are a living laboratory of evolution. But the arrival and unchecked growth of non-native species like dogs and cats pose serious risks to their unique biodiversity. Traditional control methods have proven ineffective and often inhumane, threatening both ecosystems and community trust.

Decades of lethal campaigns have failed to produce lasting results and have undermined conservation values. Effective protection requires a shift: data-driven, community-supported, and humane programs that build coexistence.

the solution

Through the  building of alliances with local governments, institutions and community members our model weaves together legislation, education, and veterinary services as three mutually reinforcing strands of a single, long-term solution.
